Puppies in a Purse Purchase Agreement

Limitations

This health contract pertains to dogs sold with full and limited AKC papers only.

Health

This health contract is a three part contract and is designed to be one of the most competitive contracts available to fully protect your Shih Tzu from genetic/congenital defects.  Before the puppy leaves from my home to yours he or she will have received all applicable shots and worming, his or her dewclaws will have been removed, and the pups will see a vet for wellness check between 6-8 weeks.  Teresa's Puppies In A Purse Shih Tzu makes every effort to only breed healthy parents which have received all recommended veterinary care, are of proper breeding age, and are in good physical and mental condition based on diet, exercise, etc.

Part One:  When you have selected your little one you will have a minimum of three days and no more than five days in which to place a deposit on your puppy. The deposit of $200.00 is ONLY refundable in full in the case that my Veterinarian finds the puppy to be of “poor health” or have a genetic defect.  In all other cases the deposit is non-refundable but can be applied toward a different puppy for up to one year.

Part Two:  In order to honor the health guarantee the buyer must take the puppy to the vet within 3 business days of purchase.  If at this time the buyer’s licensed Veterinarian finds the puppy to be in “poor health” (which he or she considers the fault of the breeder) or finds a genetic defect, then the buyer will have the option of money back or a healthy replacement puppy only when and if the following conditions are met:

1. The puppy must be returned within 48 hours with his or her AKC papers signed back over to us.

2. Buyer must provide a signed statement from the Veterinarian that states why the puppy is in poor health or a health risk.

3. This statement will need to be verified by my Veterinarian who may wish to examine the puppy again, at the buyer's expense.

4. In the case of a death the puppy must be refrigerated, not frozen, until an autopsy can be performed by your vet.  If the cause of death is due to Genetic, and not: accidental, abuse, viral or bacterial then a full refund minus shipping and vet bills will be issued once we have your Veterinarian’s results sent to us and reviewed by my Veterinarian.

Part Three:  The puppy is guaranteed to be free from genetic defects for not more than “Two Years” from the date of purchase.  During the course of this “Two Year Guarantee” your puppy must obtain all shots, heart worm preventatives, worming, rabies and any other medications or preventative measures recommended by your Veterinarian.  These must be administered by your Veterinarian according to the puppy’s age and a record must be kept of such.  There is no guarantee against any known naturally occurring puppy disease or illness which is preventable by vaccines.  These include but are not limited to: Parvo, Corona, Kennel Cough, Worms, Fleas, and Coccidiosis.  This also includes what is considered normal within the Shih Tzu breed: cherry eye, under bite, stenotic nares and both inguinal and umbilical hernias, unless these hernias are life threatening or will hamper the quality of life in which case a Veterinarian's note will be required to reimburse surgical costs.  Because the puppies will have been checked by my Veterinarian before leaving, the chances of a hernia are very remote.  Also: I cannot guarantee size or color.  Size is an estimate based on parent’s weights, weights of siblings or relatives and the size of the puppy, etc. Color can also not be guaranteed because the breed is double coated and the color may become darker or lighter with age and depending on whether the dog has been shaved down into a puppy cut or kept with full hair.  However, color based on pigment is guaranteed.  If we sell you a liver or blue pigmented dog it will have correct pigment for AKC registration purposes, though the color can vary as described above.

AKC

All dogs can be sold with limited or full AKC registration papers.  However, we normally are placing our puppies in homes to be pets.  Due to this reason the registration will only be included when requested and will have an additional fee. In the event that the dog was purchased with full or limited AKC papers we cannot guarantee fertility or breeding soundness.  In that regard we can also not guarantee breeding success, show success, or house training, though we try to be as honest as possible with regard to the puppies potential when he or she is for sale.  Finally this contract is limited to the original buyer and is considered null and void if the puppy is sold or transferred.  We thank you for your business and look forward to helping you and your puppy have a lifetime of good health!

Sale Contract

To the best of the seller’s knowledge and belief this puppy is in good health.  He or she is free from infectious or contagious diseases at the time of sale.  All dew claws or tail dockings were performed by my Veterinarian.  Any other “medical care”, (i.e. worming, heart guard, frontline) was performed at my vets recommendation regarding the puppies age and health.  Records were kept of such and will be provided to the buyer.  All Shih Tzu puppies are AKC registerable and will be sold with their registration application if requested.  The sale of this pure bred Shih Tzu dog is made upon the following terms and conditions:
